Located 7 miles northwest of Kailua-Kona, Kona Airport (KOA) is the slightly larger of the two Big Island airports and is located on the west side of Hawaii. Hilo is on the east side.
Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA) is a quaint, outdoor airport with just two terminals. Be prepared to carry your bags more than in a traditional, large airport. Although the airport serves an average of 9000+ passengers per day, there are limited restaurants and shopping within the security area. Check Jeep rental rates or rental car rates for Kona, Hawaii.
